The University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign Department of Physics has a lively program of community outreach and education. Members of the HEP group are active participants and mentors, and serve as coordinators for most of the outreach efforts.

Dr. Inga Karliner has been the department's Outreach Coordinator since she first organized the program in 1993.

Professor Mats Selen is the advisor of the fabulous Physics Van program. The Physics Van web site includes an "Ask the Van" department.

Mats is also featured as "The Whys Guy" in a live science segment every Wednesday on the WCIA Channel 3 morning news. Take a look at video clips of his show!

The Saturday Physics Honors Program, a series of lectures for high school students (and the interested public of all ages), is administered by Professor Kevin Pitts and Dr. Inga Karliner.

Professors Aida El-Khadra, Steve Errede, Gary Gladding, George Gollin, Tony Liss, Kevin Pitts, Mats Selen, Jon Thaler, and Scott Willenbrock, as well as Dr. Michael Haney and Debbie Errede have given lectures and demonstrations in the program. Scott, Mats, and Jon have administered the program in previous years.

Professor George Gollin maintains a Physics of Dance website and organizes occasional events about the connection between physics and the arts.
